A colleague of mine remarked to me this morning "are Toyota sending you a USB stick with the update on?" Err no - but you do wonder as its only a software update - a bit like flashing the BIOS on any computer device. I suppose one day we'll run a bit of ethernet cable out to the car, hit update and away it goes - as if it was a Blu Ray player or other such device.

Didn't they immediately drive out and try to see what the update has done?

The software update is applied using the very sophisticated (and expensive) hand held diagnostic tester that every dealer uses. Trust me the last thing you want is windows updating your braking system
