Not to hot on car audio speakers although JBL do ten to be superb, haven't heard the Nakamichi car audio kit, if it's even close to their home audio or sound space range then I would pay a fortune for it.
I have the Soundspace 5 system (one of the smaller ones at www.nakamichi.com) and the sound quality is unbelievable, such a small system but I heard it at the same time as a comparable bose system and the nakamichi won hands down, 10 out of 10 for me.....

best speakers in the world....
Focal utopia speakers...
if you havnt heard a full utopia system in a car, youve never heard a good system. they are amazing. but they do come with a price tag that you could buy a small carribean island with.
700 quid for some 6.5 components!!

recently heard the Polk Audio Momo Components in an M3... my god are they crystal clear! not as puchy as you expect from £400ish, but damn clear at any volume... just what i want from my speakers really.... acoustic clarity comes before punch, thats what the sub is for...

kenwoods electronics are very good i.e. their amps and headunits etc nut their speakers are w*nk.

May 15, 2003, 1:12 pm
I don't think much to their amps, but they do a good line of budget head units for those who want to stick an aftermarket CD player in for less than 100 notes.
Steve.

When it comes down to it, stereos are only as good as their weakest component. The best speakers in the world sound bad through a lowsy system.
I like jbl, been around a long time. They make concert speakers and recording studio speakers. I don't own jbl car audio components yet. but when I do they will be jbl without a doubt. I do own a pair of control 5's and the sb5 sub from jbl and I love them. over 10 years and still sound great.

Im a student on a budget so i say Sony Xplod rule all round.
+Excellent quality
+Looks great
+2/3 ways havent distorted once
+Simple wiring and setup
+Easy to fit in my car, very little DIY needed
+Red / Silver design goes with my car's blue/Black exterior/interior
Also they were the one of the cheapest brands around and when i bought it all i was very surprised at the price. £60 for my 2/3 ways

(then £120 sub £160 amp £120 head unit but thats a kenwood

)

Diamond Audio Speakers are the king in my opion (Nice & Bright)!!
However it does depend on your interpretation of a good a speaker, which changes over time- at 17 a good speaker would produce as much bass as possible now a little older & wiser i prefer a more balanced and a true reproduction of the orginal recording

I have been using Kenwood equipment for 2 years now and i am sick and tired of all the badmouthing. Kenwood's recievers were the only ones who could play my test cd (a dented and used up cdrw full of sessions and files of the worst mix) when mp3 players appeared, while today i am enjoying the safety of the fpmask w/o having to remove the faceplate every time i park the my car. An old 4-channel kenwood amp that was way underrated got replaced with a brand new 500w rms powerhouse, which awaits an exchange for a new excelon series amp.
As for the '****' speakers, you might want to check out the PSR series which are second to none, and db type subwoofers are the loudest and stiffest, period.

November 26, 2004, 6:25 pm
Headunits:
1. Alpine
2. Kenwood
Speakers:
1. JBL (from what I have heard the world over)
2. Alpine
Subwoofers/Amps:
1. Rockford Fosgate [Fantastic look, Fantastic Tight Bass, and Good Price Tag

]
Um.. no 2.
That Headunit is 100% FACT. Sorry but those 2 make the best of the best. I read it everywhere.
Speakers Im goin from what I have read.
Subwoofers, well they rock.

The outcome will never be that brand 'X' is the best for different reasons. Mainly because of personal taste. Also the setup you need varies with the sort of music you like listen. If you listen to Dance, Trance, etc. you want completly different things from your soundsystem then someone who wants to listen to Rock music or Metal.
One other thing is that you should see things in perspective (price/quality).
As for my I have the following setup:
Headunit: Alpine CDA-9835R
Changer:Alpine CHA-S634
Front Speakers: Focal 165K3P
Rear Speakers: Focal 165K2P
Sub (full enclosure): 33KX
Amp Front/Rear: Signat ROC 1 MK II
Amp Sub: Signat Fury 600
All wiring (speaker and signal) is by Tara Labs fully shielded (signal) and speakercable is 2,5mm2 front and rear and 4mm2 for the sub (99,999999 pure copper core).
So this is how I like it (Btw I listen to (melodic)rock, Metal such as Dreamtheater, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Roger Waters, Sammy Hagar. But occasionally I also listen to DJ Tiesto, Chicane, Arman van Helden.

Got Focal front components and 6x9's and they sound awesome at all volumes. Currently have a panasonic amp, which is pretty good tbh but will upgrade to a alpine V12 range soonish.
I have atm a pionner sub and monoblock amp that my step dad gave me BUT on the way is a 2005 Alpine Type-R 12" sub with an Alpine MRD-M605 amp which should sound sweet

I have had a few of these sets in my cars now are excellent. The speakers can be used as Coaxial or components and the clarity is excellent and the amount of bass they give is superb.
